Support IBS Prison Program

Dear Friends,

I want to thank all of you who generously provided contributions for holiday gifts to our Dharma brother inmates.  As you know, this is an especially difficult time of year for those whose mistakes have cost them their freedom.  As we all enjoy the company of friends and loved ones during the holidays, it is an auspicious time to remember those who are alone and suffering in ways we can only imagine.

If you haven't had a chance to support the IBS Prison Program, I hope you will help us with a monthly or one-time donation so we can continue to visit the six state prisons in Southern California: Centinella, Calipatria, Chuckawala Valley, Pleasant Valley, Chino, and Donavan state prisons.  Your contribution is tax-deductible.

As Levere, in Chuckawalla Prison wrote to us:

I want to thank you for your diligence in bringing the much needed Buddha's teaching and guidance to the men at Chuckawalla Valley State Prison.  We look forward to seeing you and Ven. Xian Zhong every time. You always leave us uplifted and in great spirits.

You may be aware that since we can only visit each prison once a month, IBS decided to set up Dharma libraries in each prison, and in two additional prisons.  Our hearts have been warmed by the kind donation of funds and hundreds of books about Buddhism, meditation, and mindfulness practice.  Donations provided today will support building the libraries and the travel expenses involved in visiting each prison during 2013.

I am happy to report we will soon be launching the IBS Prison Program website, where you can learn more about the prisons and our practicing Dharma brothers.  For now, I invite you to visit Ven. Zhong's blog to read the heartfelt messages from the prisoners.

If you wish to donate by check, please send it to:
International Bodhisattva Sangha (IBS)

As always, we are grateful for your support.  May peace and happiness be yours during the holiday season.
