Dear Dharma Friends

Dear IBS Prison Program Group Members,

May is the auspicious month for all Buddhists because the upcoming Full Moon Day is the recollection of Buddha’s Birth, Enlightenment, and Parinirvana day. As a Buddhist we commemorate Buddha’s birthday by celebrating on this significant day. We also do bathing of the Buddha on this special day in order to purify one’s mind. IBS chose this sacred month to start a Dharma correspondence connection with you and inmates through Facebook. With your commitment and dedication, we have high hopes that this program will be a great success.

IBS created a group under the name of IBS Prison Program in Facebook under the guidance of Venerable Master Hueiguang (the founder of IBS). This group was formed for the inmates in U.S. state prisons who would benefit greatly from your help and support in their spiritual practice and journey. Your letters, responses, Dharma verses, and words of encouragement to them will go through IBS correspondence. If you have any friends on Facebook that would be interested in joining this group, please spread the word.

For this group I will post questions or letters from the inmates every week. Please respond to those questions to the best of your knowledge or you can help by writing a letter about the topic. They will be very grateful to read Dharma from your letter. Even if you don’t have an answer to their question, you are still encouraged to write a letter sharing your own experience of Dharma practice. There will be times I will post a particular topic and you can share your understanding about that particular subject.

Thank you for joining our group. Cultivate all good deeds with a mind of non-attachment.

Amithofo.
